Even as a youngster, I wondered about how to get a six pack. I remember one day when I was little, my brother and I were playing. I was probably 10 or 11 and he was 3 or 4. We were wrestling and fighting in the living room when we both knew we weren't allowed to. At one point my brother threw off his shirt in order to let the entire world know just how tough he was. He stood there in his superhero pose, confident of his impending victory over his older brother.

As he stood there, I suddenly realize that this little kid had a 4-pack! I touched my stomach and there was absolutely no muscle definition to be felt. None. My little brother who was barely taller than the dining room table had better abs than I did. I was shocked!

So began my quest to build my six pack. While it definitely wasn't one of my greatest moments (after all, I was jealous of a 4 year old) it did get me interested in improving my body.

Through the years I tried everything imaginable short of pills and dieting. I did crunches, I did sit-up, I even including some exercises I saw on "Rocky". By the time I was 14, I had developed an ab workout regimen that would make most people cry. And from that came the Almighty Six Pack.

You Can Have a Six Pack, Too!

From my obsession with my abs, I came to realize that most methods touted on TV and by the fitness gurus are trash. Here is the truth - gadgets and pills don't work. I know you want to believe they do. Who wouldn't want to pop a pill and have a great body? Don't waste your money because I am about to tell you the secret of how to get a six pack.

That's it. ‘Nuff said. Go get your six pack.

No, I'm not going to leave you hanging like that. You are probably wondering, "How?" That is the real question, isn't it? Let's start with developing the muscles. You already know some of the exercises - the crunches and other ab-targeting techniques. Keep doing those because they will give you muscle development. Be aware, though, that some ab exercises are more effective than others.

To trim the fat, the best method is to invest in your metabolism. It is just like putting money into an investment and letting that investment pay you. You don't have to work for the money the investment pays out, you just have to collect it. The same is true with your metabolism. If you invest in building its speed, your metabolism will burn fat for you - even when you aren't working out! Once you have invested in your metabolism and developed your abs, you six pack will shine in all of its glory.

Beyond How to Get a Six Pack - Enter the "Russian Girdle"

The Russian Girdle is the term given to the entire abdominal wall when it is fully developed. From my understanding it came from the Russian olympic atheletes whose midsections were developed beyond merely having a six pack.

When you have a Russian Girdle you will look like a comic book character. To see a real person who had one, look at pictures of Bruce Lee toward the end of his life.

The exercise below is called the Russian Twist. It works the entire abdominal wall and will move you closer to having a girdle of own.
